Gianfranco Asveri
Gianfranco Asveri was born in 1948 in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, in the province of Piacenza. He lives and works on the hills of Gasperini surrounded by his beloved dogs. After a difficult childhood he began painting in 1969. Art became his life’s main purpose.
During an initial period he expressed himself with a traditional figurative language. Starting from the 1980s his painting becomes more instinctive and personal, rich in color and matter, close to the expressionism of Art Brut. Asveri approaches the surface with a powerful and primitive gesture. His instinctive way of painting originates from the observation of “his” reality: “I paint what I see when I open the window of my house”.
Recently, the newspaper “Il Sole 24 Ore” (The Italian Economic newspaper) included Asveri among the artists to observe in terms of investment in the Italian Art Market. An appreciable number of famous critics have written essays about his works: Maurizio Corgnati, Luca Beatrice, Flaminio Gualdoni and Martina Corgnati (only to mentioned the most relevant).
He works exclusively with CASATI Arte Contemporanea Gallery, Muggiò, since December 2017.
